1997 alumni tour schedules available
The Virginia Tech Alumni Association travel program offers educational tour opportunities and comeraderie with fellow alumni.
The upcoming schedule includes: Austrian Winter Escapade (Jan. 15-22), Rome Escapade (Feb. 7-14), Australia/New Zealand (Feb. 10-24), Trans-Panama Canal Cruise, (Feb. 11-21), Treasures of Costa Rica (March 16-25), Wings over the Okavango Safari (May 21-June 4), Classical Aegean Greek Islands/Turkey (May 25 -June 5), Scandinavia/Russia, (June 27-July 10), Alaska Cruise, (Aug. 2-11), U.S. National Parks (Aug. 11-25), and the Egypt "Jewel of the Nile" Tour (Sept. 20-Oct. 3).
For a study adventure, join the Alumni College of Ireland Sept. 30-Oct. 8 to learn about Ireland's history and literature through a tour of County Clare and other regions.
Relive the Civil War March 21-23
Join alumni Distinguished Professor of History James I. Robertson Jr. for a trip back to the 1860s at the Virginia Tech Alumni Association's sixth annual Civil War Weekend, Friday through Sunday, March 21-25.
Robertson, joined by other Civil War authors and speakers including, by popular demand, William C. "Jack" Davis, will paint poignant word pictures of the war. Other events include a tour of Civil War artifacts in the university's archival collections, an Internet tour of historical resources, and a performance of music from the war period.
