David Allen Fiske, superintendent of the Virginia Tech Shenandoah Valley Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Raphine, Virginia, died Nov. 16, 2018.

Professor Emeritus John F. Hosner, honorary founding dean of the College of Natural Resources and Environment, died Sept. 13, 2018. Hosner joined Virginia Tech in 1961 as head of the newly established Department of Forestry and Wildlife, which was then part of the College of Agriculture.

Susan West Marmagas, director of Virginia Tech’s Master of Public Health program and associate professor of practice in the Department of Population Health Sciences, died Dec. 23, 2018. Marmagas joined Virginia Tech in 2008 and helped establish the university’s public health program and Center for Public Health Practice and Research.

Dilip Kumar Shome, professor emeritus of finance, died Dec. 7, 2018. A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1983, he was head of the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Business Law in the Pamplin College of Business from 1996 to 2000. He retired in 2014.
