Letter to the Editor Dear Editor, Thanks for the article, "What is Tech doing about student binge drinking?" in the fall issue. The program is probably 50 years or more late as the problem has been going on as long as I can remember and longer. But then what kind of example do adults on campus set for the students? Check out the parking lots on home game weekends, and you will observe plenty of drinking by adult Hokie fans at tailgate parties. Perhaps this is an activity that needs closer scrutiny. At the Clemson game in September, an intoxicated Tech fan stumbled and fell against my wife in the stadium. She was knocked down over five rows of seats, resulting in some serious injuries. After three weeks, she still is in pain and has a lot of healing to do. This could be prevented if the tailgate parties were toned down. James E. McClary Jr. '51 VIRGINIA TECH MAGAZINE STAFF
